Based in Dunfermline, Fife, I help families preserve precious memories by converting old video formats into modern digital files.
Whether you have VHS tapes stored in the loft, Super 8 cine reels in a cupboard, or DVDs that you want backed up before they deteriorate, I can transfer them to digital formats that are easy to watch, share and preserve for future generations.
I provide media digitising services throughout Dunfermline, Fife, Edinburgh, Perth, Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes and the surrounding areas. Customers can drop media off locally, meaning no chance of your precious memories being lost or damaged in the mail.
Magnetic tapes deteriorate over time and playback equipment is becoming increasingly difficult to find. Converting your home movies to digital files helps protect them from damage while making them easier to watch on modern TVs, computers, tablets and smartphones.
Digital copies can also be shared with family members, uploaded to private YouTube channels, stored on USB drives and backed up to cloud storage for extra protection.
Tapes and DVD transfers start from £6 per tape or disc.
Cine conversion is based on the length of the film. The basic rate is 3p per second of film. For an average 3-minute Super 8 cine reel, that would be £5. if you would like to edit and add music, that would be an additional £3/per reel.
Videos can be supplied as MP4 files on USB, DVD or uploaded to a private YouTube channel.
Most orders are completed within a few days depending on quantity. Video conversion works in real time, so a 60 minute tape will take 60 minutes to copy onto a computer.
In many cases, tapes with minor playback issues can still be transferred successfully. I can also open broken VHS cases and salvage the magnetic tape from inside.
No. If you’re in Dunfermline or nearby areas you can just drop them off. Meaning there is no chance of them getting lost or damaged in the mail.
